Objectives


Phase I: Firm Visits Community leaders and other volunteers are trained to interview business owners or managers. A survey, designed to identify business concerns, needs and development plans, and tailored to specific local and community needs, in issued to guide the interview. Data provided by individual firms is kept confidential. top

Phase II: Immediate Follow-up A task force of local citizens reviews the survey results and addresses immediate concerns expressed by businesses. Support needed to address these concerns is identified and mobilized. top

Phase III: Data Analysis Survey results are analyzed and a set of findings and suggested actions is prepared for the local community. The task force uses this report, and its knowledge of the community, to develop action plans for strengthening existing businesses. top

Phase IV: Recommendations and Implementation Local teams are identified to spearhead efforts to implement the action plans. A wide variety of state and local agencies are encouraged to participate in the implementation process.
